My Paint Dot Net Digital Scrapbook Created Samples

Below are only a few samples of layouts I've made using Paint Dot Net. Because of the large original size of most of them I reduced their sizes to use on this website for the purpose of showing you what PDN can do while not slowing your computer due to large graphics downloading. In doing that, quality of the layout might also be reduced.

A bird made a nest in one of my hanging plants on our back patio. I took a photo of it every few days. Eventually they hatched and flew away. After I made this layout I printed it on my home printer, an older printer, framed it and set it on a shelf.

When you look at the image of the blue eggs in the bird's nest layout what you should keep in mind is how easy it was to make using PDN. Why? Well, most of this was made from choosing from a variety of backgrounds, frames, and my own text I added near the bottom of the image.

So, my point is that endless free kits, free graphics, and kits to buy dirt cheap are out there on the internet. Many who DESIGN graphics used for digital scrapbooking give away “freebies”, mini kits, and add-ons. A lot of people love scouring the net to look for “freebies”, but you can also make your own "decorations" using Paint Dot Net (PDN), to use on decorating your photos, by scouring the net. If you see something you like you can trim it down, remove bits and piece, and use all of it or a portion of the image as a background, frame, decoration (embellishment), or whatever you want.

Fantasy Unicorn Image made with Paint Dot Net.

In the bluish unicorn layout, the photo, itself, would have seemed boring. Trimming away most of the photo, playing with shades of colors, and putting various decorations around it completely changed the whole concept of an otherwise boring photo and made it into something magical. As stated, this digital scrapbook creation with the unicorn is not even done. I do what I feel inspired to do when I feel inspired...and when I have the time : )

Some of my sisters and cousins do digital scrapbooking. I started maybe 6 or 7 years ago but with a Corel software. I came across PDN and stayed with PDN. I use it for everything now, not just digital scrapbooking but with photos in various ways, personalized greeting cards, or whatever. Compared to other image editing or graphic software, PDN feels less technical to use. I have used Corel, Adobe, and Gimp software. The Gimp is another free image software such as Paint Dot Net. It happens to be very good, too, but a little more technical to get the hang of, and since we are all different, maybe it's just me. I feel like functions go much faster with less to have to click on using PDN.

In my opinion PDN would be more like flying a kite instead of flying a space shuttle, but with space shuttle results.

This 8" x 10" layout I made using Paint Dot Net and from various images I found on the internet. It's for personal use and demonstration purposes. I don't own the rights to anything.

The photo was an image from a beautiful movie and love story called, "The Notebook"

The quote I used below the photo was written by talented poet, author, and photographer; Tyler Knott Gregson. The link goes to his instagram website. His other website is http://tylerknott.com/

Paint Dot Net does A LOT!

I should mention you cannot sell images that do not belong to you. You can’t collect “freebies” or various items other people made and pass them off as yours. If in doubt contact a lawyer, legal aid, or people who make digital graphics layouts. Piracy and copyright infringement are against the law.

Most of what I have created when doing digital scrapbook layouts, or making personalized greeting cards, restoring old photos or even making a photo lighter that was originally too dark, are most often the same functions over and over. So, if you practice with PDN in a fun way or in a way that is of interest to you, it will give you a little more reason to keep believing in yourself that you can certainly get the hang of it. All you need is a little practice. You will likely be surprised at how fast you start making your own digital scrapbook pages --or other fun things.

Digital scrapbooking isn’t that hard. Most of the graphics used to do a layout have already been created by other digital scrapbooking hobbyists for you. Just slap them together...but think of the other things you will then be able to do with PDN, in addition to digital scrapbooking!
